School of Thinking

• HOW

Professor Edward de Bono, Co-founder School of Thinking:

“What would I expect from a member of The School of Thinking? I would expect that person to use thinking in a quiet and confident manner. I would expect that person to have pride in his or her thinking skill. This applied thinking is practical–the sort of thinking that is required to get things done!”

What progress has SOT made over the years?

  • It was the SOT which put ‘thinking’ on the curriculum in US schools.
  • It was the SOT that helped pioneer the idea of ’six thinking caps’ which Edward de Bono has described as “the most important change in human thinking for the past 2300 years”.
  • It was the SOT that originated the idea of ‘teachers of thinking’ for disseminating thinking skills around the world.
  • It was SOT that initiated the idea of ‘daily training’ by email.
  • It was SOT that created the first “software for your brain”. SOT designed the CVS to BVS brain software which was later taken up and used by Jack Welch throughout General Electric. “Finding a better way every day” became a GE slogan which was put up in every GE office and factory around the world.

Dr Michael Hewitt-Gleeson, Co-founder SOT:

“Thinking is the source of knowledge.
If knowledge is power, then thinking
is also the source of power. Like all skills
thinking can be learned and developed”.
