SOT dispute with Edward de Bono …
Posted on May 25th, 2010 by Michael••• PUBLIC RESPONSE by Michael Hewitt-Gleeson to Edward de Bono’s defamatory and reckless claims about the School of Thinking which are published on his personal website. Recently Edward has repeated his claims in Australia. Because of the serious and personal nature of these claims our legal advisers have suggested we take the time to provide the public with the following historical background and factual information from SOT archives in New York and Australia since 1979.

EGO when mis-understood is VERY DANGEROUS.
It is the down fall of MANY.
Who ever understands and REALISES that there is NO-SELF is the WISE person.

before his illussion of a rent free thinking palace from good australian citizens,[wont happen]gets him huge exposure,[saveing on marketing
budjets ]when good people reconize the con when they THINK about it.

It is a pity that the picture that is emerging is of Edward being a consummate marketer of himself rather than a great thinker. Being keen to learn more about using our brains effectively I have bought a number of his books over the years. Some time back I made the statement in passing that he had one great idea and 35 books about it. When I first saw him on stage I remember being amazed that he seemed to really believe that there was only one way of creative thinking, his! There have always been ways other than “lateral thinking” to come up with creative solutions. It is disappointing that even in old age Edward persists with his delusion that he is the source of all wisdom and original thought, in spite of the statements to the contrary that your lawyers have extracted from him. Michael this is just another minor distraction, just persist with your restatements of the truth and continue to provide a massive community resource with SOT.

So Edward hopped out of the cot, asked for a pen and wrote a best seller.Perhaps he should be reminded that a midget sitting the shoulders of a giant can see, oh so much further. It is a great pity that it has come to this, litigation. Comedians will have a field day. I sat through a De Bono lecture at the Sydney Hilton in the mid 70’s The lecture was liberally sprinkled with anecdotes mainly concerning himself and his children. I found it hard to keep track of his subject. The narrative became somewhat erratic. I lost interest. Maybe I’m dumb. But a THINKING man and a PROPONENT of thinking should always THINK (oops) twice before deciding to say “its mine all mine” when
the evidence is incontrivertible. PS Is that yourself Michael? JMD
