Vote for Pope?
Posted on September 10th, 2009 by MichaelThe Problem
Father Bob is one of Australia’s most respected priests. He is an authentic Christian thinker. He is widely known for his imitation of Christ in the original role of the ‘shepherd to his flock’. He is a contemporary Australian ‘saint’ in the McKillop tradition.
Bob Maguire uses laconic Australian wit to spread the word of love (in the Christian tradition) and has been effective in his role for half a century from Army padre to parish priest.

Now, like McKillop, he is having words with his bishop. His bishop has asked for his resignation and his flock are not amused (watch video here).
The Solution
But there is ONE exception. The Pope. And, so we have a simple solution: Father Bob for Pope!
Should Father Bob be the next pope? Is he qualified?
I think so. I think he may be more qualified to be Christ’s shepherd than any other Australian. Father Bob uses love as his message and he practices what he preaches. He would be a worthy successor to Benedict XVI whose first encyclical may be the most important one of this century — Deus Caritas Est – God Is Love.
In The Shoes of the Fisherman Australian novelist Morris West, anticipates such a pope in Kiril I … (clip from movie) …

What do you think? (post your opinion here)
• Do you think Father Bob should be the next pope?
• Do you even think you should have the right to vote for the next pope?

Father Bob ( look at me, look at me) Maguire should retire and exit the South Melbourne parish immediately. Maybe I am brainwashed, but I have been involved with many ‘Father Bobs’ who have used their godly powers to extract money from poor hardworking parishioners and catholic business owners. Maybe I am wrong, but , then again, maybe I am right.

Father Bob is a finite resource with great lifeskills. Why waste that talent on a pointless topic like religion when he could be helping disadvantaged people in a secular sense.
“I find the whole business of religion profoundly interesting. But it does mystify me that otherwise intelligent people take it seriously.” Douglas Adams.

I am a 67 years old man. I have learned not to express oneself opinions on matters as politics, and religion unless your are eager to be in trouble. I beleive you about the charisma and santity of Father Bob. Congratulations. I also believe that Father Bob is no looking for Pope position. I believe that Father Bob is very happy performing as currently. We need more people compromised with mankind as Father Bob does. My best wishes and greetings for Father Bob. Father Bob as the next pope, at first in intriguing thougth, but would that be the best way to continue to spread the word of love and compassion. As the head of the Vatican can he change the organisation from the top…..
Should I have the rigth to vote for the next pope, certainly! That would bring the church closer to its members and bring changes to the accountability of its bishops and cardinals. They would eventually have to answer to their master, but in my opinion, they should be accountable in this life.
