“Give us this day, our DAILY bread.”

Actually, the original translates as:
"give us tomorrow's bread, already today"

For insiders, this is quite obvious, because the mind is best suited for absorbing the bigger picture when the pesky needs and urges of the body are out if the way.

It is unclear why exactly the change was made by the church, but I'd bet that the reason was simply that the rulers didn't want to continue to encourage the peasants to think about the future, and instead instill more of a fatalistic mind set into their underlings.

"Give us this day, our DAILY bread." The world is caught up in consumerism... building and buying things it doesn't need. All we really need to live is our daily essentials. However, to grow and develop we must take time-outs to learn how to connect with the harmony and peace that is the essence in and of all things.

Hello,

Reminds me of a conversation I had once with a person who was spruiking "Investment in Excellence"

Robert : "Everything is a choice except breathing and dying - you cannot prevent either of those"

Me : "No its not - I have to come to work to earn money to pay my mortgage"

Robert : "You dont have to pay your mortgage - You choose to live in a house - You choose to accept a bank loan - You choose to make the repayments in order to be able to live in the house - You must take responsibility for the consequences of your choices"

It turns around the concept of "I have to" ( poor me ) to become - "I am doing this for these reasons................ " (taking responsibility) ............... I have always remembered that particular chat.

Oh, love this, very empowering - especially as I have just gone through a bad bout of chicken pox with pneumonia plus a stay in hospital and was starting to think "why me"!
What a timely article - thank you!
