Scientists unlock genetic secrets of diseases
Posted on June 8th, 2007 by MichaelScientists have made a major leap in unravelling the genetic causes of seven common diseases, including diabetes, arthritis and high blood pressure, by completing the largest analysis of the human genome.Professor Peter Donnelly of Oxford University said: “By identifying the genes underlying these conditions, our study should enable scientists to understand better how disease occurs, which people are most at risk and, in time, to produce more effective, more personalised treatments.”
